We will need persons to assist in decorating on Saturdays, November 27 and December 4 beginning at 9:00 AM. If you can assist one or both of these days, please contact Brian Williams at 724-7566 or gregrandbrianw@bellsouth.net and let him know which day(s) you will be available to assist.

UCHM CHRISTMAS CONNECTION
UCHM churches are again sharing Christmas with working families who struggle all year to provide the bare necessities and have no resources for holiday extras. Individuals, teams or classes may provide gifts and/or Kroger cards for these families. Information and commitment forms are available in the church office and in Birchwood.

A THANK YOU AND A REQUEST FOR ESL
Martha Lytle expresses her thanks to those who brought pies last Friday for the ESL Thanksgiving celebration. She also is requesting donations of coffee and tea bags for the break time that we staff each Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

RESOURCES FOR THE JOURNEY INTO ADVENT AND INTO 2011
There will be a table of Advent resources set up in the Birchwood entrance on Sunday, November 28. You are invited to borrow and use a book that will guide you through the Advent season of waiting and watching.
On Sundays, December 12 and 19, an Adult Spiritual Formation table will be set up in the Birchwood entrance to offer devotional guides for the year 2011.
As we accent spiritual formation in 2011, these are two small offerings that can enhance and enrich your spiritual growth. As always, please return the books at the completion of your study. Also, please pencil your name in the book when you borrow it.

COMMUNITY READING GROUP: JANUARY 20, 2011
Jeanette Walls’ second family memoir, Half Broke Horses, will be the book for conversation when the reading group convenes on Thursday, January 20 at 7:00 PM in the church parlor. Many of you remember her first memoir, The Glass Castle, which was an extraordinary read. Half Broke Horses is a glimpse at Walls’ grandmother, Lily Casey Smith, and her hard life in rural Texas. Softback copies are available at local bookstores and copies are available at the public library. Mention the CHBC reading group at Carmichael’s for a discount.
As part of the gathering in January, the reading group will discuss the future of the gatherings and ways to strengthen and broaden the intent of the group. Join us.
