Reflection on Jenny's portrait of Sam:

Sam was Jenny's treasure and such I see in her portrayal of his golden hair streaked with life-blood; alive even while asleep. His prominent and strong jaw tells of this being a man to the artist and not just a boy. Even though the pose is a profile, the mouth is full, and so it was for Jenny who learned guitar, music, and more from Sam. He found a fuller, more complete voice in his relationship with her. This face of Sam, interpretation of Jenny, vibrates with light and with joy. The eyelids appear to quiver. Wonderful picture of the life we beheld in Sam. The white-speckled, light blue background looks like stars shining in a sky by day. Such was this manly young man, missed by all of us who knew him. I really like this portrait of Sam.
